First Time Buyers in Devon - Advice for First Time Buyers

Helping people who think home ownership is a pipe dream onto the property ladder is the aim of a major event due to be held at Plymouth’s Guildhall on Friday 9 April.

The event is designed to provide a gateway to affordable housing for would-be buyers who may feel their income is too low to consider buying their own home.

The City Council is hosting the shared ownership open day with South West Homes – the Government appointed HomeBuy agent for the South West peninsula.

The event will give people who are keen to gain a foothold in the property market the chance to get free advice from Council staff, local housing associations, developers, solicitors and financial advisers.

There will also be wealth of information about the types of flats and houses that will become available under HomeBuy schemes over the next few months.

There are several different types of HomeBuy schemes, provided by both housing associations and developers, which people can find out about at the event. Plans of some of the properties currently being built for these schemes will be on show and experts will be there to provide details of the affordability of different properties.

Independent financial advisers will be on hand to help people find out about the mortgage deals available to them.

The event is open to the public from 12 noon to 7pm.
